I have pictures aligned with people on the Builder site but they don't publish to the person, instead they publish to the group of pictures. How do I get them to align with the family member so they appear on reminders and the timelines?
This problem popped up yesterday afternoon while i was working on updating information in my family tree. I went to look at the reports and the majority of marriage statistics are blank! (They state "no data available") All of the information is there and is saved in the family tree and i was able to look at the marriage statistics just fine yesterday morning. Any idea what is causing this?
Yes. What happened was that I tagged a person in a photo by mistake, thinking that he is a family member. As it turned out, he was just a guest so he doesn't exist in the family tree and should not be tagged at all. So what I want to do is "untag" him. I'm sure it can be done but I can't seem to find this feature anywhere.
I use FTB to create and update our family tree. When I add / revise a pic of a family member using FTB and then publish the revised family tree so it can be viewed online, sometimes the profile pics of the members get mixed up, i.e. one member's profile pic ends up in another member's profile. It happens randomly, that is there is no pattern to the mix-up.
Seems like there is a bug in the FTB program or in the upload program? Is it happening to other family trees? Can you please fix this? It is quite annoying and time-consuming to have to fix / correct this everytime a member of our family tree brings it up to me (as site administrator).
I have had to go into Settings/Home Page/Other Tab--Family Tree Root Individual and re-set this Root individual to display when first opening Family Tree each time I log in.
I make sure to "Save". Then the next day I will sign in, open the Family Tree and it goes back to me as the root individual.
It seems sporadic--sometimes it remains as I have set it and sometimes it does not. Who else has access to these settings?
Any ideas on why this is happening and how to correct?
I'd like for my MyHeritage family tree to be viewed in classic mode. I set it up, and every time I go back and open it, it's in modern mode. Is there a way to set the view so that it automatically opens to classic?
I wonder if this issue is related to mine whereby the site is not keeping some other settings under Home Page, Other, Family Tree Root person?
I can sign out and back in on the same day and see that the settings remain, but the next day when I sign in, they have changed.
Could this be happening with the modern vs classic--they may remain the same on a given day, but the next day (after perhaps rebooting the computer, removing browser cache, etc, they change back.
I just tested this by putting in classic mode, then exiting the site and then going back to the site and to the tree, and I was still in classic. I thought that's what had been happening, but I tested it to make sure. I do find it odd the way they differentiate between the two modes. The "modern" view is what I would call the "classic" family tree view and vice versa.
I can't seem to find a way to change the email address of members I have invited onto family site. I have put incorrect emails onto the profile of site members and so need to swop or change emails. Can anybody help me please?
Another problem on the Home > Settings> Genealogy. Tried to open a "My Page" and it, too, disappeared into the Internet ozone. I think something is broken on this page. Still waiting to hear about "About Our Family"and "Missing pieces. Help!
Home page > Settings > Genealogy > Nothing I entered below my photo shows up--e.g., About Our Family and Missing Pieces. I'm not sure where they're supposed to post, but I've been all over my website and can't find them. Where are those two sections? How do I direct people to them?
Also, is it possible to view my website not as the site manager, but as others will see it?
Thanks, I got another email on this, and I'll repeat what I said in my reply to that one. While I appreciate finally knowing where this information lands,I have to say I'm stunned.
For a visitor to have to go to "Manage Trees" to view "About Our Family", etc. is totally non-intuitive and borderline ridiculous. Why would a visitor go to Manage Trees to get any more information at all, as managing the tree is usually a function of the site manager? What does managing trees have to do with About Our Family or Missing Pieces (Please cap "Pieces") For that matter, does the Manage Trees tab even show up on what the visitor sees?
Actually, it just hit me that this might be a language thing and not a navigation thing. Maybe the tab just needs to be renamed. If that's the issue, I'd go for two tabs--About Our Family and Missing Ancestors ("Pieces" doesn't tell you much--besides, a person isn't a "piece"). Also, most genealogists are looking for that missing person/link--this is critical and should be front and center.
If it has to be one tab, then maybe "More Family Info" (not very good, but you get the idea.
Meanwhile--adult supervision for the programmers. Someone needs to monitor their work.
I finally got the sites going the way I want but I still show some extra sites I need to have deleted please.
I would like to delete these 3:Belardino Sperduti Family Web Site and delete Family Tree Web Site and deleteShuman Family Tree - 12062010b Web Site
I would like to keep these 2: Shuman Family Tree Web Site and Sperduti Web Site
Also on my Shuman Family Tree Web Site my niece's contact name is spelled wrong. It reads Flasher not Dasher. The only place I can find it is on the contact for her but I can't seem to fix it no matter what I do. I have deleted her and readded her back and it still seems to come back and I can't find the place where it is that I can change it. Please help.
Christy Carter (born Dasher) is a niece of your wife. Click
Thank you for the reply. I believe that my niece has tried to log in herself but I don't think it kept the change she made. I will get with her and try again.
Concerning the first question on the deleted sites. If they do not exist on your side to see, then can you offer any advise as to where they reside on my computer? Here is what I see when I look at my account:
When I log into the Family Tree Builder it opens to the defaulted tree as I had set it up. When I click on the tool bar and select Publishing and then MY SITES I have the 2 sites there that I should have. When I select PUBLISHING PROGRESS I see 3 sites 2 named Sperduti one of which wants to publish to the other site named Schuman Family Tree Website. When I go to Publish the Sperduti Website it wants to publish both so I end up having to abort the duplicate so it doesn't publish to the Schuman site and mix with it.
When I am on the intranet my MYHERITAGE tool bar shows under MY FAMILY SITES a drop down list with 5 sites they are:
Schuman Family Tree Web site, Sperduit Web site, delete Family Tree Web site, deleteSchuman Family Tree 12062010b, and Belardino Sperduit Family Tree Web site
Of these the only ones I want to see are the first 2-- Schuman Family Tree Web site and Sperduit Web site.
Help I'm stuck
Hi John,
These sites have already been deleted.
Regarding your second question, please take a look at the following FAQ:
If you log into MyHeritage.com and click on "my sites" you will see that you currently have 2 sites in your account. However, in the toolbar you see also the 3 sites that have been deleted. This is indeed a bug, that we are trying to fix; I will let you know as soon as we will be able to do so.
